This annual open rapid chess tournament, a tradition within the Mongolian community in Chicago, was held at the Mongolian Heritage Center as part of a fundraising effort to support the purchase of the center’s property. The tournament winners are as follows: In the under-7 category, Turmandakh Yesuntumur took first place, Odbayar Bayartamir came in second, and Munkh-Armi Ariunbold clinched third place. In the under-12 category, Danzan Dashdemberel won first place, Tugstsogt Oyunbold took second, and Anir Erkhemsanaa secured third place. In the adult category, Ochirbat Lkhagvajamts (Candidate Master) achieved first place, Bayar Yundenbayar took second, and Amartuvshin Oyun-Erdene finished in third, each being awarded a trophy and cash prize.
From the entry fees collected from the participants of the “Tsagaan Sar-2024” chess tournament, a net profit of $500 was transferred to the donation account of the Mongolian Heritage Center.
